Nyaboke Nduati was born in the Kisii highlands in Kenya and spent most of her childhood living in various small towns in western Kenya. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Literacy Education at Syracuse University. In the past, she has worked as an English teacher in Kenya, as well as a writing consultant and a teaching assistant in the US. Nyaboke earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Syracuse University in 2010.
