Alejandro Varela

Alejandro is a writer based in New York. His work has appeared in the New Republic, the Southampton Review, Pariahs (an anthology, SFA Press, 2016), Blunderbuss Magazine, the Offing, and the Brooklyn Rail, and has received honorable mention from Glimmer Train Press. He is a 2017 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellow in Nonfiction, and a resident in the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s 2017–2018 Workspace program. He is also an associate editor at Apogee Journal. And he's working on a collection of short stories, tentatively titled The First 200 Years of Eduardo, as well as a collection of essays (Notes From a Quickly Gentrifying Foxhole).
