Amy Shearn

Amy Shearn is a novelist, essayist, editor, and teacher. Her third novel, Unseen City, will be published by Red Hen Press in 2020. She is also the author of the novels How Far Is the Ocean From Here and The Mermaid of Brooklyn, which was a selection of Target's Discover New Writers program and a Hudson News Summer Reads pick. Her essays and short stories have appeared in the New York Times, Slate, Nimrod International Journal, Columbia Journal, Electric Literature, Catapult, The Rumpus, Brooklyn Quarterly, and elsewhere. Amy received a Promise Award from the Sustainable Arts Foundation, and has participated in residencies at SPACE on Ryder Farm and the self-directed Artist Residency in Motherhood. She has an MFA from the University of Minnesota, and has taught for Sackett Street Writers Workshop, Gotham Writers Workshop, and NYU. Amy currently lives in Brooklyn.
